Meet the Optometrists
Dr. Heidi K. Johnson, OD, FOVDRA
Dr. Heidi Kero Johnson, OD, FOVDRA, is a Neuro-Developmental Optometrist specializing in problems of the visual brain, including vision-related learning problems (visual information processing/ perception), binocular dysfunction (double vision, eye turns, lazy eye), and rehabilitative vision therapy after brain injury (stroke, TBI). Dr. Johnson also provides primary eye care services for routine eye examination, glasses, and contact lenses; diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease, including cataract, glaucoma, and macular degeneration, as well as low vision and walk-in urgent eye care services.
Dr. Johnson is a native of Negaunee, Michigan. She received her undergraduate degree from Northern Michigan University in 1986 and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University in 1990. She completed her board certification in Vision Development and Vision Therapy in 2005 through the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (OVDRA).
In 2014, Dr. Johnson achieved Board Certification and Diplomat status in the American Board of Optometry. She is a lifelong learner and participates in rigorous Continuing Education and Maintenance of Certification programs.
Dr. Heidi Johnson opened her practice in Marquette in February 1991. Her goal is to provide excellent personal eye care to the community she grew up in. She resides in Marquette. She enjoys travel, biking, hiking, kayaking, playing the violin and spending time with her family Jed and Joey Johnson of San Francisco, CA; Levi, Michaela and Aurora Johnson and daughter Elise Johnson of Minneapolis MN.

Dr. Jessica Jackson, OD
Jessica Jackson, OD, is an Optometrist focusing on specialty contact lens services as well as the treatment and management of all ocular diseases. Dr. Jackson performs thorough eye examinations on patients of all ages.

Dr. Stephen Herman, OD
Dr. Stephen Herman, OD, is a primary care optometrist dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-focused eye care. In May 2018 he joined the team here at Superior Eye Health and Vision Therapy Center. His professional interests include dry eye therapy and community-based veteran care. In addition to comprehensive eye examinations, Dr. Herman conducts Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Community Care veteran evaluations, reflecting his strong commitment to serving those who have served our country. He strongly believes in increasing access to quality eye care in rural America, which is why he chose to return home to the Upper Peninsula to continue helping members of his community see their best.
Dr. Herman earned his Bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University, his Doctorate of Optometry from the Michigan College of Optometry, and holds certification in Advanced Procedures from the Oklahoma College of Optometry.
Dr. Herman is a member of the Michigan Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association, as well as the Marquette Lions Club, Disabled American Veterans, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is passionate about giving back to the veteran community and supporting local service initiatives.
Outside of the office, Dr. Herman enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, dogs, and cat. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, and conservation efforts, and he values preserving natural resources for future generations.
