Heidi Johnson, OD, FCOVD, is a developmental optometrist specializing in visually related learning problems, sports vision and rehabilitative optometry. Dr Johnson is board certified in treatment and management of ocular diseases.

The practice of Heidi Johnson, OD, FCOVD, P.C. first began in February of 1991. Her goal is to provide excellent personal eyecare to the community she grew up in. Her office provides the best services and products available to her patients.

The optical industry is always changing. New methods of testing, diagnosing and treating eye conditions are continually being developed. Optical products such as lens materials and design, coatings, contact lenses and frame styles are always changing and being improved. The goal of the practice is achieved by always improving our skills and increasing our knowledge to insure we provide the best services and products available.

We are also very pleased to announce the recent certification of Dr. Heidi Johnson by The College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD). Established in 1971, COVD provides board certification for eye doctors and vision therapists who are prepared to offer state-of-the-art services in:

  • Behavioral and developmental vision care
  • Vision therapy
  • Visual rehabilitation

These specialized vision care services develop and enhance visual abilities and correct many vision problems in infants, children, and adults.
The COVD board certification process includes a rigorous evaluation of the eye care professional's knowledge and abilities in providing developmental and behavioral vision care for patients. Optometrists who successfully complete their certification process are Board Certified in Vision Development and Vision Therapy and are designated Fellows of COVD (FCOVD).
Dr. Johnson is one of only 12 in the State of Michigan Board Certified in Vision Development and Vision Therapy.

Dr. Johnson is a native of Negaunee, Michigan. She received her undergraduate degree from Northern Michigan University in 1986. She obtained her Doctor of Optometry from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University in 1990. Chris Erbisch, MS, OTR –
Occupational Therapist

Changes are happening here at Superior Eye Health. We are getting more and more referrals from Doctors like you, who see the value of vision therapy and how it can help patients with various developmental delays, as well as those with neurological impairments affecting the visual processing system. We are seeing the impact that vision therapy is making on the quality of life of many patients.

As we consider the many needs that are yet unmet, we are thrilled to have Chris Erbisch on our team. Chris has taken the position of Vision Therapy Director here at Superior Eye Health. Chris is a licensed occupational therapist with skills in the evaluation and treatment of psychiatric, behavioral, memory, and neurological disorders (including stroke and traumatic brain injury). She is also seeking certification as a vision therapist. Her addition helps us to realize our dream of holistically treating patient's issues.

Chris previously worked at Marquette General Heath System for almost 20 years, in the last 15 as the Director or Occupational Therapy. She has a Bachelor's and Master's of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Western Michigan University with a graduate specialty in gerontology. She recently completed coursework for vision therapists through Optometric Extension Program in oculomotor dysfunctions, learning related visual disorders, strabismus, and amblyopia.

Chris has been excited to see, how closely related vision therapy is to occupational therapy. The combination of her occupational therapy background and her vision therapy knowledge makes her an invaluable asset to Superior Eye Health and to our mission of providing the most advanced, informed, and complete care to our patients.
